Phonological processes are patterns of errors utilized by young children during speech production. Many of these patterns are common and typical. However, if they persist beyond a certain age, they are atypical and compromise speech intelligibility. Please see the following regarding a process called fronting. How much is the scholarship? The average full scholarship in Collier County is just over $10,000! If your application is completed before September 1st, then you are eligible for 100% of the scholarship amount. Is my child Eligible??? This scholarship is for Florida students 3 years old through 12th grade or age 22, whichever comes first, with one of the following disabilities: Autism spectrum disorder, Muscular dystrophy, Cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, Phelan McDermid syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, Spina bifida, Williams syndrome, Intellectual disability (severe cognitive impairment), rare diseases as defined by the National Organization for Rare Disorders, anaphylaxis, deaf, visually impaired, dual sensory impaired, traumatic brain injured, hospital or homebound as defined by the rules of the State Board of Education and evidenced by reports from local school districts, OR three, four or five year-olds who are deemed high-risk due to developmental delays. · Validation of the student’s diagnosis is required and must come from a Florida physician or psychologist or a physician who holds an active license issued by another state or territory of the United States, OR by an IEP written in accordance with the rules of the State Board of Education or with the rules of another state. · The student cannot be enrolled in a public school. Sometimes a blueberry is perfectly blue, cold, and round; sometimes it is not. Sometimes an avocado is green, room temperature and mushy; sometimes it is not. As adults, we are aware of this inconsistency in produce, and our level of cognition enables us to recognize this. However, to many children this variability is troublesome. A blueberry at school may be different from a blueberry at home! Hence, foods like Goldfish, Wheat Thins, or Doritos often become preferred foods since their presentation is typically very consistent. ▶️ Before reading with your child, try to reduce environmental distractions. Turn off the TV, silence your phone, and sit in an area that is generally quiet. ➡️ Offer your child a choice of 2 books to read. Hold both books up, and allow your child to point to/take the book he/she wants. ➡️ If it is a familiar story, pause at the end of the predictable sentence, allowing the child to fill-in the blank. For example, in Martin/Carle’s “Brown Bear” you might say, “Brown Bear, Brown Bear what do you _______?” (See) ➡️ Model a positive attitude about books. Keep books not only in a dedicated play area, but throughout the home. It does not have to be expensive; make stops at the library. Give books as birthday gifts, talk about books during meals/car rides- indicating they are just as compelling a subject of conversation as the day’s events.
